Do You Have a Power? Use it Wisely.

It was such a great topic to talk about in the Organizational Behavior class. We talked about how does power of the boss might effect on the employees. The power of someone’s important in the workplace could cause some problems to the workers. According to the Fundamental Organizational Behavior book, it says” power refers to the capacity that A has to influence the behavior of B so that B acts in accordance with A’s wishes” (Langton & Robbins & Judge, 2011, p.230). From the definition of power, I got an idea that any person who has a great position or power could have his/her wishes.

Power could use in a positive or negative way. Sometimes power is important to improve the employee’s performance. For example, if an employee has a work to do and he/she must do it at specific time but it wasn’t done at that time, then the boss should have a process with these employees. Sometimes power could lead to negative results. The boss might use this power to get what he/she wants such as sexual abuse and that could be a threat to get what he/she wants.  For example, there are some bosses who want something from their employee and if they refuse, they will be fired.

Listen To Understand

In organization behavior class, we took a subject that reminds me of the past. The subject was about "Conflicts and Negotiation". In fact, I had a conflict with my best friend before six years. Suddenly, she stopped talking to me without telling me the reason of her habit. I tried to talk her to apologize if I did something wrong against her. Or if she could hear something bad which might be rumor. I tried to contact her but with no results. She was ignoring me all the time. Whenever I see her, she was neglecting me, as we never were friends. That happened when I was in ninth grade. Before two weeks, I sent a friend request on Facebook to her. I wasn’t quiet sure that she will accept it. I was surprised when she sent me a message on Facebook telling me that she missed me and we should talk with each other on Whatsapp. I didn’t refuse to talk to her. I was happy to keep in touch with her again. I didn’t try to ask her what was the reason of not talking to me all the past years. I did not want to open old wounds. I think we are now old enough to open a new page of our relationship. Moreover, try to understand and think about everything before making any step.
This lecture reminds me of my relationship with my friend. I think conflicts could happen with anyone, mother, father, sister or even a friend. I found a quote saying by Vea Mariz “10% conflicts is due difference in opinion and 90% is due wrong voice tone”. I understand from this quote that there is many conflicts are caused by the voice tone. It says that the tone of voice is half of speaking. Every conflict has a solution. In my opinion, to solve a conflict between couples or group of people, they must negotiate and talk about it. I learned from my experience with my friend that if we talked about the conflict, we weren’t being strangers for too many years.

End of a Journey is a Start To New Achievement.

Here is the end of the winter semester. It was the most semester that i felt really tired. In fact, I took five courses and I think this is might the first reason that I felt exhausted. It is such a good thing to learn more so I can gain more. But at the same time, I got too much stress because of many courses. I was trying to balance between each course but at the same time I couldn't focus in one subject. I think it was a good experience to be under pressure, because later I might feel the same way or maybe worse. Sometimes, we have to be under pressure because I believe that one day because of that pressure we will be something in the future. Most of the successful people suffer and tries many time to attain their goals. We all know that there are bad days and good days. We should learn from bad days so we can attain our achievements. We should put in our minds, end of a journey is a start to new achievement.

There are many people saying that "Life is too short". In fact "Life is too short to wait!" There are differences between the two saying. The first shows a deep meaning of hopelessness and desperate.  When you believe in it, you will not be able to enjoy your life as much as you can. Moreover, you will always think to hurry up doing everything and not enjoying every single day. You will not be able to enjoy every second time with your friends and family . That's why i don't really believe in that quote. The other quote "Life is too short to wait" encourage you to exploit every single day without wasting. Wasting time is one of the losers' characters. I think this quote is helping you to succeed in your life. In addition, help you reach high stages.

Love your self before loving others.

people are not alike. Personalities differ from person to another. Some people have high confident some don't. There are some people who do not love their self because they might have personality's problems. Some have overconfident which is not a good thing. When the person have overconfident، we call him/her arrogant or conceited. That personality is unacceptable from others. The best personality is that person who love him/her self moderately. Moreover, having self confident is one of the best personalities. So, love your self before loving others.

Care Before They are Gone.

Think before you make any step in your life. Sometimes, grief could lead to such serious problems. Life doesn't stop if we lose a son or a husband . Yes, we need to cry. We need to express our feelings. All that sadness will be forgotten one day. But do you know when it becomes a serious problem? When the person harm him/herself by something sharp, because they think from that way they will get rid of their feelings. This is happening not only with adults, it's happening with children too!.

There are some parents who don't really take care of their children. Or they don't give them the time to show them the attention that they need. Some children do not talk about their problem. They also don't reveal their sadness to their parents. So they express their feelings by harming themselves. When a child do this he/she needs a solution right away.

In my opinion, to solve this problem parents should ask a psychologist about it. Making some session with a psychologist will help the child a lot. By asking the child about the reasons of doing this and help him/her to get rid of it.

Children needs attention from their parents. They need to talk. Talking will solve a lot of problems in their life. By not take caring of children, they will go to other dangerous way to express their feelings. Attention is all what they need.

Stars Can't Shine Without Darkness.

Stars cannot be seen if there is no dark, that's why you cannot see them during the daytime. Stars needs the dark so they can shine. Life doesn't stay on one frequency. Days are not the same. There are bad and good days. Shiny days push us foreword, obstacles teach us to not give up.

You must need both sunshine and shadowYou cannot leave one and live with the other. They're both important in your life or you won't be able to live. Like the shadow and the light. You need the light to  feel warm, and the shadow in order to protect our body from the sun.

Think! There are many things in your life that make you happy. One obstacle should push you foreword not pulls you behind.  You are the one who choose your happiness and your sadness. You are the one who decide to be miserable or joyful. So, BE HAPPY !

New Experince, New Life.

The course Service Learning 1000 was a good choice I have made. I took this course last semester. Being in this class gives me the opportunity to learn something I really like that is volunteering. I was so excited before I start this course, because I heard so many positive things about it from my friends and my adviser too. In the other hand, I was worried about which organization that I am going to work with, because I wanted to be in a place that I feel comfortable in. I also wanted to be with my friend so we can share the same experience. In my opinion, the Kamloops Food Bank was a great decision to volunteer. I got a very good experience and my contemplations were the same even better. I choose the Food Bank because I it is an organization who can take two volunteers so I can be with my friend. The second reason is to have a new experience. I already work as a trainee in a bank, and I work as an organizer at the Saudi school in the Saudi club. But this is kind a new place to work in. However, this origination helps me to attain some achievements. . The organization helped me developing my personal and educational skills. I also had lesson to take when I go to my hometown because of being in the Kamloops Food Bank.
I can describe my experience as indirect service at the Food Bank. According to the Service Learning Companion book, it says “ your experience will focus less on working directly with individual clients and more working with the community part-ner in a boarder ( Dunkan& Koppard, (2008), p.28). Working in the Food Bank is indirect service, because I don’t see or give the people who need the food. I used to work n the organization members only without having any connection with the needy people. Even I do not communicate with clients directly, but I know how my work is something important. Because of working there, that helps them to feel better. Even we cannot see that, but we can feel it.
Being in the food bank gives me the opportunity to achieve some goals. I wished always to help people and to be in a group work even without earning money or profit.  Moreover, talking with the people encourages me to learn English so I can develop my language in speaking and conversation aspects. Although, making relationship with the people that I do not know, and sharing the experiences and knowledge.  According to the “Service Learning Comanion” book “the service-learning experience address two specific course objectives: to develop patient/client in-terviewing skills and to become familiar with the aging process…”(Duncan, Koppard. 2008. P.25) Being in this organization helped me to be more patient, because I am not a patient person. Science we are working, we all should be patient so we can work harder even if it is an easy work.   For example,  if we are doing hampers, we should do to many bags. Sometimes I feel tired because of doing that much of bags. But at the end of the day, I felt that I did something new that helped me and help the people.
In my opinion, I think the Food Bank helped me developing my personal and educational skills.  Because of this organization I become more social by talking with other people and knowing new people. Sharing the experiences helped me in my personal skills. Moreover, I took the advantage to ask the Canadian people about their life. From that point, I got new information that helped me to know more about the Canadian culture. Being in the Food Bank helped me also in my educational skills. For example, by talking English all the time with the organization members and the volunteers that gives me the chance to develop my English, which support my studying in the university. I also got new vocabularies that I never heard about. Learning new vocabularies helps me improving my English language, which support my speaking aspect. That is the main thing that I want learn because I cut a long distance to gain knowledge. By learning English I can study easier.
The life lesson I might take back to my hometown is that being able to work with some people who have different culture. Some people think that it is hard to work with people who do not have the same traditions or cultures. In my opinion, it is a good opportunity to be with people who have different culture so you can learn new experiences. In addition, the cultural differences will give you new information about the place that you are in. For example, in the Food Bank we were sharing our cultures and habits. By sharing the cultures, we felt like we are one family in one place. Even when I describe my communication in the Food Bank as a low-context. In p.26 from the Service-Learning Companion book says “ If you come from outside the dominant cultural context and do not share a deep understanding of the situation or the background,… (Duncan&Kopperud,2008). There is a low-context, because of the cultural and language differences. Traditions and customs are not the same is mine. By talking with each other and sharing the cultures, we understand each other more and more.
Volunteering is the most moral thing that can person do. Having the experience in the bank, the Saudi school and Kamloops Food Bank gives the opportunity to learn something new. Furthermore, making people happy encourage me to work harder and to continue volunteering. From all these experiences, I assume that one day I might make my own organization, because I can feel that the person who volunteers has a good life. I do not have to give a person an I-phone or a very fancy car to make them happy. What they need is a very tiny help, at least a smile. I will try as much as I can to continue volunteering so I can meet new people, learn from their experience and take the advantage to help the people who need assistance. I already finished my experience in the Food Bank, but the end of a journey is a start of a new objective.

All That Glitters is Not Gold

All that glitters is not gold is a famous saying means that not everything we see should be as we accepted or as we see. The appearance of something is likely to lead to a disaster. We might attract to something but actually what wee see is not the reality. This well known saying can describe a person or a place or even anything that look like to be valuable but in fact it is no thing.
Sometimes we fall in love with a person because of his/her good looking or she/ he has an attractive character. We should keep in mind that some people are wearing a mask of deception. Beauty doesn't describe the personality of the people. Some people fooled because of the appearance of any person.  That doesn't describe everyone but sometimes we carried away with a huge mistake when we trust someone because of his/her outlook.

Good looking doesn't show the real personality of any person. We should be aware when we meet new people and try to be careful when we make a relationship with them. As long as we know them closely, we will find who really they are. Action shows the whole personality. It is easy to describe someone but the actions cannot be described from the first sight. We have to know people deeply so we know who really they are. By judging people from the first sigh in a positive or negative way, you’re not giving your self a chance to make relationships.

Sometimes we got surprised when we see any product, and we keep willing to have it. Advertising plays a big role in marketing. There are some advertisements that do not show the reality of the product.  They make the people impressed without mention the product’s defects. They are not all the same, but we have to be aware of such advertisements.

We have to keep in mine that not everything that shine is a real gold. It could be a fake gloss.  Think before you know new people or buy a fancy product. Do not let the appearance of a person or a product lead you to regret later. Look inside the essence and remember all that glitters in not gold.

First Step..

Starting to blog is not an easy thing, because from here you can make the difference to you and others too. From here, I will be able to write freely and without any rules. Changing the wold is one of my goals to attain. I totally believe that if someone want to change anything in the world, they must change themselves first. I wish I can be the one who change the world so we can live in a better world...
