Do You Have a Power? Use it Wisely.

It was such a great topic to talk about in the Organizational Behavior class. We talked about how does power of the boss might effect on the employees. The power of someone’s important in the workplace could cause some problems to the workers. According to the Fundamental Organizational Behavior book, it says” power refers to the capacity that A has to influence the behavior of B so that B acts in accordance with A’s wishes” (Langton & Robbins & Judge, 2011, p.230). From the definition of power, I got an idea that any person who has a great position or power could have his/her wishes.

Power could use in a positive or negative way. Sometimes power is important to improve the employee’s performance. For example, if an employee has a work to do and he/she must do it at specific time but it wasn’t done at that time, then the boss should have a process with these employees. Sometimes power could lead to negative results. The boss might use this power to get what he/she wants such as sexual abuse and that could be a threat to get what he/she wants.  For example, there are some bosses who want something from their employee and if they refuse, they will be fired.
